I have to look into the whole fetal monitoring thing because I really don't know what that is. As it turned out, we were able to accomplish each one of our goals. I'm leaving you with a link to our natural birth plan that I shared on my blog. The only thing I would add would be that I would request external fetal monitoring and not internal monitoring. Because of the nature of our birth plan, our nurse knew to have the baby's heartbeat monitored externally, and it was really a lot more comfortable for me. Good luck!!!

http://babymakesfourblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/birth-plan-etc.htmlLetters to Lilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02228924895988263228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2304141807158013844.post-84891853104836601092012-01-03T16:34:00.236-08:002012-01-03T16:34:00.236-08:00Allyssa - I checked out that group. By the time it came down to it, I just wanted her (my daughter) in this world. My daughter was induced, I had and epidural, and drugs before that. She turned out wonderful!Triple Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01971703731523187983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2304141807158013844.post-55880986140383580062011-12-31T00:27:59.461-08:002011-12-31T00:27:59.461-08:00there are other things to help with pain. my mom d...there are other things to help with pain. my mom didnt get an epidural with me or my brother. she had other drugs to relieve pain.

keep your birth plan really short. check out the natural unmedicated childbirth group on babycenter.com for help from BTDT momsAllyssahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07612513914926320135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2304141807158013844.post-23320763047182554822011-12-30T09:48:37.560-08:002011-12-30T09:48:37.560-08:00I can tell you this from experience (I've neve...I can tell you this from experience (I've never had a baby, but I am a nurse)...

Be specific. If you want a natural childbirth, discuss your pain-management options with your MD before you go into labor. When you get to the hospital, tell the your nurse you don't want to be offered pain medication unless YOU ask for it, that way the temptation is lessened.

The more you put on your birth plan, the more healthcare providers will laugh at you. Put the things that are most important for you (like a natural delivery). If you come up with a 3 page birth plan that says you want a natural childbirth, wear your purple fuzzy socks during delivery, and that you want to eat hamburgers during labor, your wishes will likely not be as respected (again, seen this from experience!)

The most important thing is to be flexible. You never know what your labor is going to be like until you go through it, but I have full confidence that you CAN have a labor and delivery to be proud of.F as in Frankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00943849072338937881noreply@blogger.com
